Statement of purpose

Schemers Inc. is dedicated to changing the way the world teaches its students about computing. We believe that computer science education should emphasize problem-solving, algorithm construction, and elegant ideas as much as possible to the exclusion of concern over the trivial minutiae of the syntax of a programming language. Accordingly, our goal is to provide educators with the means to introduce students to computer science via the Scheme language, which is much more in tune with the current direction of the discipline than those, such as BASIC or Pascal, that have more commonly been used in the past.
