"The Schemer's Guide to Solid Modeling"

by Michael J. Laszlo

This book explores the exciting world of 3D computer graphics and solid modeling from the viewpoint of the computer scientist. Assuming a familiarity with the Scheme language such as might be acquired by studying "The Schemer's Guide" the book describes modeling concepts and techniques such as solid geometry, transformations, color and lighting, and rendering. As each concept or technique is introduced, readers are encouraged to produce stunning 3D renderings of solids using 3DScheme, which incorporates the state-of-the-art, industry-standard ACIS solid modeling engine. This book is highly recommended for undergraduate and advanced high-school students of computer science with an interest in solid modeling.

The author, Michael Laszlo, is an associate professor of Computer Science at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Computer graphics has held special interest for him ever since his doctoral studies in the subject at Princeton University.
